Matthew “Matt” Krohn of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, has been competing in Special Olympics for nearly two decades, since he was 8 years old. He has competed in athletics, bocce, bowling, floor hockey and swimming. At the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, he will represent Special Olympics USA in swimming. Special Olympics has given Matt the chance to play sports, meet new friends and travel throughout Minnesota, and now to Germany. His parents have cheered him on every step of the way.
After graduating from high school, Matt completed a transitional school program. In high school, Matt won the Adapted Bowling State Tournament. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America. Now, he volunteers for Feed My Starving Children and spends time with family. His interests include origami, airplanes, weather and biking. Before Special Olympics, Matt kept to himself and is now very outgoing, meeting new friends through sports. He will be giving his best effort at the World Games.
