Julie Blehm of Fargo, North Dakota, has been involved with Special Olympics for 18 years and has served on the Special Olympics USA delegation in the Special Olympics World Games in 2013 and 2015. She also attended the Special Olympics World Winter Games Idaho 2009 to watch her daughter Amy compete in snowshoeing. In the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, Julie will represent Special Olympics USA in a medical staff role.
In her free time, Julie likes to swim and ride her bike to stay active. She also enjoys reading and listening to music. She serves on the board of directors for Special Olympics North Dakota. As a medical professional and a parent of a Special Olympics athlete, Julie has a different perspective of what Special Olympics does for people with intellectual disabilities. She has watched her daughter’s confidence grow as she meets other people like her. Julie admires the potential that individuals with intellectual disabilities possess and looks forward to experiencing and supporting their success firsthand.
