Craig Pippert of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, has served as a volunteer or staff member for Special Olympics since 1997, in roles with the Program level, a Special Olympics World Games Local Organizing Committee and Special Olympics North America. Now, as the director of sport development for Special Olympics North America, Craig will represent Special Olympics USA as head of delegation. In 1999, Craig served on the Local Organizing Committee for Special Olympics World Games and has served as assistant head of delegation for six Special Olympics World Games. Special Olympics has afforded Craig the opportunity to create positive, lasting impacts for many people.
While in college, Craig’s parents passed away, instilling in him lifelong traits that have proven to be useful throughout his lifetime. Craig has previous experience in coaching youth and middle school basketball, appreciative of the ability to collaborate with others to provide worthwhile experiences through sports. Craig enjoys spending time with his two dogs, without a dull moment to be had. At the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, he looks forward to athletes showcasing their abilities to the world.
