Irvin Humphrey of Russellville, Arkansas, has volunteered with Special Olympics for nearly 15 years, serving eight of those years as the director of sports, training and competition for Special Olympics Arkansas. He will represent Special Olympics USA as an assistant coach in golf. In the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, Irvin attended as an assistant coach. As a coach, he prioritizes maintaining his physical and mental health for the benefit of the athletes he works with.
He is proud of his role as a father to his son Beckham and most admires the role his own parents have played in his life. During his college career, Irvin competed on a NCAA Division II basketball team, which ranked first in the country his senior year. He continues to train in basketball and volunteers his time to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. A competitive spirit, Irvin looks forward to watching Special Olympics USA athletes leave it all on the playing field, showcasing their years of hard work.
