Savana Brashears of Gainesville, Florida, has been involved with Special Olympics for over a year as a coach, Unified partner, volunteer and Special Olympics College Club member at the University of Florida. She will represent Special Olympics USA as a Unified partner in basketball. Through the Special Olympics College Club, Savana serves as the fundraising director and competes as a Unified partner in basketball, bowling and flag football. She is a coach for basketball and soccer. With Special Olympics Florida, Savana helps to fundraise for the Race for Inclusion, a statewide event to help fund sports training, competition, health services and leadership programs for Special Olympics athletes. In her time with Special Olympics, Savana has made some of her best friends and best memories.
Savana is a marketing and writing intern for the UF Innovation Hub and competes on the university’s club ultimate frisbee team. She most admires her parents, who are struggling to repair their home in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
The process of training for the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 has allowed Savana to push herself as an athlete, form bonds with her teammates and continue to meet new people along the way.
