Kyle Drake is a Unified Sports partner on the Special Olympics volleyball team at Ridge Community High School. His team will represent the USA at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. He was originally born in Bridgeport, Connecticut but grew up in the town of Stratford. He currently resides in Haines City, Florida. Kyle never dreamed of being able to travel the world with some of his closest friends or representing his country on this grand of a scale. He says he owes it all to Special Olympics for making this possible. "Special Olympics is not just about playing a sport or gaining community service hours. Special Olympics is about making relationships that will last a lifetime. It's about fighting for something no matter how hard it is, uniting together with people that even though they are different, we all share the same desire to be champions." Kyle states that he has discovered things about himself, mentally and physically, he didn't even know were possible. "Special Olympics is about being brave in the attempt and making a difference no matter the adversities, and I find this not only apparent with the athletes but with the Special Olympics family as a whole." He is extremely happy to have found "a home away from home", and hopes to be a part of this organization for as long as possible, helping to continue to grow the Special Olympics movement.
