Katia Rios is the middle child of three, born in Los Angeles, California. She used to live in Mexico before moving to Davenport, Florida with her cousin Yatziri Rodriguez. Both cousins will represent USA in Unified Volleyball at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. Katia played several sports in and out of Special Olympics, but so far her favorites are volleyball and soccer. She loves helping people, which is one of the reasons she joined Special Olympics. Katia has volunteered for several years now and plans on continuing for as long as she can. She currently works a full-time job while preparing to go to college, where she hopes to study cultural anthropology. Katia says, "Special Olympics has taught me the importance of teamwork and being part of a team."
