Jay Flythe has been involved with the Special Olympics Georgia Augusta Stars program since 1995. He has competed in a variety of sports including softball, basketball, volleyball, bocce, and most recently table tennis. Jay enjoys having fun at competitions with his teammates, but more than that he is a leader on the Augusta Stars team. He is helpful when it comes to watching other athletes and he is a positive influence for others to follow. It is because of his team leadership that he received the 2013 Special Olympics Georgia Male Athlete of the Year. It is also one of the motivating factors of why he was selected for the 2019 Special Olympics World Games. Jay is excited about this opportunity. He is looking forward to experiencing adventures in a place that he has never been to. When not competing with Special Olympics, Jay can be found working at Fort Gordon’s commissary or playing video games.
