Katie Botha is a lifelong cheerleader. She first volunteered with Special Olympics as a student with her high school athletics team in 1995. Her sports media career began in Europe and later morphed into sport-based nonprofit and workforce development in Africa before returning to the United States in 2006. Employed by Special Olympics Virginia for nearly twelve years until late 2018, she now serves as Communications Director for Special Olympics USA. Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 marks her first Special Olympics USA management team experience and her first time visiting the Middle East. She's already packed her pom poms to #Cheer4USA!
