Ken Richter is an athlete with the Special Olympics Newington local program. He got involved in Special Olympics at eight years old and has been participating in its programs for more than 45 years! He says of Special Olympics, “I have made it my life.” He adds that it has taught him exercises and healthy eating habits. Ken and his wife, Lori – also a Special Olympics athlete - have been married for six years. His family also includes two younger sisters, Kristine and Kimberly, and a nephew, Noah, who was his Unified partner for golf. Richter works at the Big Y World Class Market in West Hartford – a job he’s had for over eight years. In addition to participating in Special Olympics, Richter enjoys painting with chalk and watercolors and jigsaw puzzles. He competed at Special Olympics USA Games in 2010 and the 2008 Golf Invitational in Florida.
