James Price started volunteering with Special Olympics in 1998 after attending his cousins' competitions as a spectator. He has now been coaching bocce for Special Olympics for 15 years. The determination and positivity of athletes fills him with admiration. His favorite memory from the 2006 Special Olympics North Carolina Summer Games illustrates this well. During a track and field event, one of the athletes stumbled and fell on the track. Despite the blood running down his shin, he got up to finish the race and the other athletes around him helped him across the finish line. This, and countless other examples, has sparked a fire in James and his passion for coaching. James has previously attended the 2010 Special Olympics USA Games and the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles as a bocce coach. When he is not coaching or working at his job as a Special Education teacher, James enjoys running. He has competed in many different 5ks, a 10k, and a half marathon. James can't wait to watch the Special Olympics USA bocce athletes go for gold at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019!
