Tyler “808 Flash” Morimoto is a proud Roughrider of President Theodore Roosevelt High School. Since 2010, he has competed in Unified basketball, football, soccer, bowling, softball and track and field and he has trained with his high school cross country team. Tyler also volunteers with Honolulu Christian Preschool and Special Olympics – participating in such events as Cop on Top, Over the Edge, and the 2016 Microsoft Torch Run for the state of Hawaii. Tyler feels Special Olympics has made him more confident and increased his self-esteem. In addition to his athletic achievements, Tyler has found success in his studies as well. His freshmen year of high school he was on the Principal’s List with a 3.5 GPA, and now has a 3.3 cumulative GPA. He likes playing video games and going fishing with his family. He is inspired by his mother as well as Marcus Mariota, because of his accomplishments and humility. Tyler is so excited to be a part of Special Olympics USA and says he will do his best to be a good team player and encourage his teammates.
