Irvin Humphrey's first involvement with Special Olympics was during his time playing basketball in college, when his team would volunteer for local Special Olympics events. He later started working one on one with a young man who participated in Special Olympics, jumped into a coaching role, and later became the Director of Sports, Training, and Competition for Special Olympics Arkansas. Special Olympics has given him a new perspective on life. Now, he is all about bettering the life of the athletes. Irvin is currently a member of the Special Olympics North America Coach Development Resource Team, as well as the US Athlete Leadership Committee. He is honored to attend the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 as an assistant coach for Special Olympics USA's athletics team. He is excited to work with athletes from all around the US, meet new coaches, and he is definitely excited about the overall experience.
