Christopher Tucker of Minnesota will be participating in the shot put 100M run, and 4x100M relay at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. Christopher joined Special Olympics when he was 10 years old living in foster care. He has had his share of challenges, undergoing a two-day brain surgery and ten-day stay in the ICU to remove a cerebral AVM. “When I came out of surgery, I had lost some of my vision, had trouble speaking and could not stand or walk on my own,” Christopher said. “My Special Olympics team supported me as I went through intensive physical therapy. Eventually I was able to come back and join my team to win gold in our basketball State competition.” Christopher’s team dedicated the game to him and his recovery. Christopher continues to excel in sports, winning a gold medal in the high performance shot put at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle, earning an automatic bid to perform at the World Games in Abu Dhabi.
