Drew Hennen of Shakopee, Minnesota, started competing in Special Olympics in 2014 and has trained in athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, floor hockey, golf, snowshoeing and swimming. In the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025, he will represent Special Olympics USA in snowshoeing. For the past two years, he has competed on the Minnesota United FC’s Unified Team, which was formed as part of a partnership with MLS and Special Olympics. For Drew, Special Olympics has allowed him to continue pursuing his love for competition.

Graduating from Shakopee High School in 2023, Drew competed in adaptive varsity sports, including floor hockey, soccer and softball. He also competes on a water ski show team, which combines components of all water ski disciplines through choreographed acts. Every night, Drew trains at the gym, preparing to go for gold on an international stage.
