Jyl O’Brien-Williams of Orlando, Florida, started volunteering with Special Olympics in 1992. Special Olympics has enriched her life in many ways, allowing her the opportunity to provide medical care to athletes from an underserved population. She has worked to provide access to free physicals and preventative care in her home state. In the Special Olympics World Games Turin 2025, she will represent Special Olympics USA in a medical staff role. In 2019 and 2023, Jyl attended the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi and Berlin, respectively, as a member of the medical support team.
She currently works in a professor role, providing education to the next generation of medical professionals. Jyl enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering for many organizations in her community. Attending the World Winter Games, she is looking forward to watching athletes excel despite the environmental and health challenges Special Olympics has faced over the last few Games.
