Karla Alvarez of El Paso, Texas, has been a Special Olympics athlete for more than 15 years. She has trained and competed in athletics, basketball, cheerleading, flag football, floorball, golf, swimming and tennis. She appreciates that Special Olympics pushes her to learn new things, get stronger and have fun.
In addition to Special Olympics competition, Karla runs cross country and enjoys sprinting towards the finish line. When she’s not busy at school or practicing for her next competition, Karla enjoys playing board games, watching TV and crafting.
During the lead up to the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025, Karla will work closely with her floorball coaches and teammates to learn new skills. She looks forward to representing El Paso, Texas, and the United States on the world stage.
