Ben Stofsky of Poughkeepsie, New York, started competing in Special Olympics as soon as he was old enough to do so. Since then, he has competed in athletics, basketball, floor hockey and softball. In the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025, he will represent Special Olympics USA in floorball. Through Special Olympics, Ben has become proud of the person he is and has made long-lasting friendships. He is both a leader and a friend who his teammates can rely on.
Ben is employed at a bird sanctuary, where he assists with cleaning and caring for the animals, including the alpacas, horses and pigs. Outside of training, Ben spends his free time with his girlfriend, who he met through Special Olympics. He most admires his mother for her strength in battling cancer. From her, he learned to never judge a book by its cover. As he represents Special Olympics USA, he is ready to prove his athletic ability to the world.
