Special Olympics USA is fortunate to receive support from sponsors and suppliers. Thank you.
Bank of America has partnered with Special Olympics for more than 30 years, working together to advance a more diverse and inclusive society through the power of sports.
Over the next three years, Bank of America is building on this partnership through premier sponsorship of Special Olympics USA – helping athletes achieve their goals as they represent the USA at the World Summer and Winter Games, and advancing athletes’ leadership, employment, skills training, and mentoring through the Athlete Leadership program. In addition to philanthropic funding, Bank of America’s employee volunteers support Special Olympics athletes at local events across the globe.
The bank’s expanded sponsorship follows its work with Special Olympics on the first-ever Unified Relay Across America which organized more than 10,000 torchbearer participants and volunteers to walk, run and wheel the Special Olympics torch from Greece through all 50 U.S. states to start the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. The Relay served as the largest fundraising event in Special Olympics history, raising $4.3 million from more than 18,000 individual donors. More than 5,700 Bank of America employees volunteered in support of the Relay and World Games, serving as additional champions for a message of inclusion in local communities. Since 2010, Bank of America employees have volunteered more than 40,000 hours to support Special Olympics.
The bank’s relationship with Special Olympics reflects its longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, from employing individuals with disabilities to engaging employees through advocacy and volunteerism and ensuring its products and services are accessible. Through its Support Services team, the bank employs approximately 300 employees with intellectual disabilities who deliver services core to the company’s business operations. The team includes Special Olympics athletes who have competed in Special Olympics games at the local, national and global levels.
