Jill Simmons is a Cross-Country Skiing coach for Special Olympics USA. Simmons hails from Bend, Oregon and has been involved with Special Olympics for eight years. Simmons says her proudest Special Olympics moment was seeing her first athlete cross the finish line during her first regional games, but that watching the Summer World Games was amazing as well. “People thought I was nuts for jumping up and down cheering for them,” says Simmons. When it comes to coaching in the World Games, Simmons says “It is such an honor to be selected and I am humbled to be surrounded by such high caliber coaches and athletes.” In addition to her volunteer work with Special Olympics, Simmons is also a volunteer paramedic/firefighter and Civil Air Patrol volunteer.
