Ashley Naber hails from Oregon City, Oregon. The 23-year-old has been competing in Special Olympics for more than a dozen years and will represent her country in cross-country skiing in Austria.
“Special Olympics has given me the opportunity to participate in sporting events that I would not have otherwise had the opportunity to do,” says Naber.
“Attending the World Games in Austria is one of those lifetime experiences that I would not have received otherwise.”
When she isn’t busy with Special Olympics, Naber also works at Grocery Outlet in Oregon City as a courtesy clerk.
In a recent interview with KATU.com, said she couldn't believe that she was selected as one of Oregon's five athlete representatives on Special Olympics USA.
"My mom says, "Get down here, I've got good news for you. You're going to World Games!' And I was screaming, I was so happy," Naber said.
"Just seeing Austria and just exeperiencing the fun of it," Naber said when asked what she was most looking forward to at the World Winter Games.
